Studio Pottery Smoke-Fired Vase – Hand-Thrown Stoneware with Iridescent Fireclouds (Signed ‘SN’, c.20th Century) collectors art The term archaistic refers toA characterful hand thrown studio pottery vase finished in a subtle smoke fired surface with shifting firecloud colours around the lower body. The vase has a gently rounded form with a slender, organic neck, and the clay surface shows the lightly pitted texture typical of post firing smoke reduction. The lower section carries a natural band of iridescent colour in reds, ambers and purples, created by the firing atmosphere rather than applied glaze.
